All telethon costs have been underwritten, allowing all proceeds to go to the Minot Area Recovery Fund. The telethon will take place Monday, Sept. 12 from 7 p.m. to midnight at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall in Old Main on the Minot State University campus. The telethon will be aired on major television and cable networks and radio outlets in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. <br /><br />Telethon chair <strong>Patrick Finken, President of Odney,</strong> says media partners are key to the telethon's reach and ultimate success. "The media jumped on to this concept and have been very generous," Finken says. Media partners include Hoak Media; Reiten Television; Prime Cities Broadcasting; Clear Channel Radio; Radio Fargo-Moorhead; Programmers Broadcasting; Minot Daily News; Bismarck Tribune; and Midcontinent Communications. Other partners include Odney, Minot State University, United Printing/Spit n' Image and SRT Communications.<br /><br />Telethon organizers have set a goal of $1 million for the telethon. The fundraising committee includes Pat Finken, U.S. Senator John Hoeven and Andy Peterson of the North Dakota Chamber. Friesz led employee committees that worked with Odney advertising agency to develop the BSC "beyond" campaign, as well as the energy and military campaigns.<br /><br />BSC received three awards for its "beyond" brand campaign: a gold Medallion Award for the PR-recruitment campaign, a silver Medallion Award for print ad series, and a bronze Medallion Award for TV single ad.<br /><br />In 2009, BSC and Odney developed a new brand position depicting a broader reach and the idea that BSC has moved beyond a traditional two-year community college. The approach and message are different for each target audience with "beyond" as the common thread for all.<br /><br />"With all the innovative approaches and programs we have, making sure people know about them is essential," Friesz said. "Our ‘beyond' branding/marketing campaign has helped people see BSC differently."<br /><br />The department earned two gold Medallions for a video and a TV single ad promoting BSC's energy programs. The campaign was designed to convey that education through the National Energy Center of Excellence provides training for high paying, high demand careers in the energy industry.<br /><br />The past two years, BSC has focused on partnerships to deliver education to military service members. Nominated alongside Basin for their respective corporate social responsibility efforts are global companies like Aflac, eBay and Hasbro. Past winners include Hard Rock International, Bank of America and Deloitte &amp; Touche.<br /><br />In only two years, Basin has grown its <a href="/news/"><a href="http://www.stbaldricks.org/" target="_blank">St. Baldrick's </a></a>campaign into a company-wide effort where, to date, more than 300 volunteers have shaved their heads in solidarity with children with cancer. "Bringing the Image team into the fold allows us to diversify the industries we serve and expand our Fargo presence while benefiting from the great reputation Image has developed in the ag and manufacturing arenas so important to the Red River Valley," says Odney President Patrick Finken. <br /><br />Troy White established Image Communications in 1995. He and his staff provide marketing, advertising, design and web services to clients throughout the area. <br /><br />"Our client relationships have always been about trust, integrity and delivering on what we promise. "We already have clients in Coeur d'Alene, including Taco John's and Command Labor. It's a fast-growing market with a lot of opportunity. With today's technology, Mike's creative talent can continue to benefit our North Dakota clients as well."<br /><br />"I can work more closely with our existing Idaho clients and look forward to bringing new clients on board," says Bruner. "In fact, we've already connected with potential new clients interested in working with us. I'll also continue to work closely with our North Dakota clients, and will be returning to Bismarck on a regular basis. In this new role for the agency, Helgeson will oversee Odney's Bismarck marketing consultants, providing strategic direction and leadership. She also will continue to manage the North Dakota Tourism account.<br /><br />During her tenure with Odney Advertising, Helgeson has had an instrumental role in some of the agency's biggest accounts including North Dakota Tourism and Partners for Affordable Energy. She has almost 20 years of marketing experience spanning various industries including tourism, energy, financial and healthcare. Helgeson, a Minot native, has a bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master's degree from North Dakota State University.<br /><br /><strong>Matt Frank</strong> was hired as a full-time graphic designer. He recently graduated from Bismarck State College's Commercial Art program. While in college, Frank interned with Odney and fostered his instincts and skills for creative thinking and designing. As a graphic designer at Odney, he'll be involved in all facets of design and pre-production work of advertising print elements. Frank is a Mandan native.<br /><br /><strong>JoAnn Krueger</strong> joined Odney Advertising as a bookkeeping assistant. Krueger brings to Odney more than 20 years of accounting and inventory control experience and was most recently employed in the accounting department at a Fargo car dealership.<br /><br />In her role as the bookkeeping assistant, she will conduct media auditing, accounts payable and accounts receivable auditing, as well as doing data entry.
